African winemakers in Samara
On the 13th of August 2008 Simonsig Winery Co-owner and Chief Winemaker, Johan Malan and Marketing&Sales Director, Ross Hobbs arrived in Samara and Toliyatti to present South African wines and get acquainted with wine distribution in the region.
In Toliyatti Simonsig representatives helped by the Truba-S retail company held a tasting for wine connoisseurs in the Redkaya Ptitsa restaurant. And in Samara Johan and Ross conducted a presentation for restaurateurs and wine-boutique keepers organized by the Regata Samara retail company and the BAKKKO restaurant.
During the transfer from Toliyatti to Samara the guests from Africa got acquainted with the Volga River and visited a super-secret government institution code-named 'Stalin's Bunker', where in the 33 m depth the Soviet Government Residence took place in 1941-1942 during the II World War.

There is a rigorous two-stage judging process of professional blind tasting and detailed chemical and microbiological analysis. Entries must be from an identifiable batch or lot and available in commercial quantities to eliminate the possibility of show products taking part.
